On on-air tribute was held on Kelowna radio station K96.3 today, June 14, for long-time host David Larsen who died of cancer.

“Our dear friend David Larsen lost his battle to cancer this weekend,” states a post on the Kelowna radio station’s Facebook page. “David was an integral part of K96.3 and the Kelowna community for many years. He was also an outstanding husband, father and friend. We will miss him greatly.”

Larsen arrived in Kelowna in 1993 as program director for Silk-FM radio where, according to a Kelowna Daily Courier story written in 2019, his first inclination was to fire host Tony Peyton. But, station owner Nick Frost is reported to have talked Larsen out of it and, instead, Larsen teamed up with Peyton for many years.

They started the David, Kelly and Tony show with Kelly Abbott on Silk-FM from 1994 to 2001.

The trio split up when Abbott left to pursue other career options leading the two men to launch the David and Tony show on K96.3.

That show ended in July 2019 when Peyton retired.
