VERNON - A movie partly filmed in the North Okanagan opens in theatres today.

Disney’s Tomorrowland — starring George Clooney, Hugh Laurie and Britt Robertson — hits the big screen Friday, May 22

In Vernon, your first chance to see the film will be at Cineplex. The first showtime is 4 p.m. today. You can also catch it at the Salmar Grand in Salmon Arm.

The mystery-adventure film directed by Brad Bird follows the danger-filled mission of a jaded scientist, Clooney, and an optimistic teen, Robertson, as they uncover the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory — known as Tomorrowland.

The film was shot in eight different B.C. cities, including Enderby, Armstrong, Richmond, Surrey, Burnaby, Delta, Langley, and Vancouver. Landmarks include UBC, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, the Museum of Vancouver and the Vancouver Academy of Music.
