KAMLOOPS – Photographers from around the country submitted more than 9,100 photographs to a contest seeking the most beautiful and inspirational photos. In total 356,949 votes were placed and at the end local photographer Donald Ehman was named one of eight winners.

Ehman will now see his photo, titled Fiery Dawn, showcased on millions of Royale tissue boxes across the country, alongside photos from two other British Columbians, an Albertan, two photographers from Ontario and two from Quebec.

While most of the other winners opted for close-up style photography Ehman went with a breathtaking landscape taken at Eastern Trophy Mountains in Wells Gray Park north of Clearwater. He hiked into the valley and camped overnight before capturing the sunrise over a nearby lake.

“Capture what you love in your heart and your style will follow,” Ehman offers in a tip to other photographers.

The contest has been running since 2009 and winners come away with a $1,500 prize and their photo featured on boxes of tissue sold across the country. The Inspire Us Collection will be available in stores until October.
