LILLOOET - A 43-year-old Lillooet man could be charged with murder after the man he's accused of assaulting died of his injuries.
The incident happened Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015 at 3:04 p.m. on the 300 block of Mitchell Road in Lillooet. Stl'atl'imx Tribal Police were called to investigate a report of a serious assault and when they arrived, they found a 61-year-old man suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Lillooet hospital, and though emergency personnel attempted to revive him, he died of his injuries.
Mounties soon learned the identity of a suspect and he was located and arrested. The suspect remains in police custody and faces potential murder charges.
The identity of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
An investigation by Lillooet RCMP in cooperation with the B.C. Major Crimes Unit, Kamloops RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Kamloops RCMP Police Dog Services continues. Police are also looking for public assistance for help.
