Legendary children's performer Fred Penner coming to Kelowna

Legendary singer and children’s performer Fred Penner is coming to Kelowna Community Theatre on April 10, 2022. The Sunday performance will start at 2 p.m.

Legendary singer and children’s performer Fred Penner is coming to Kelowna Community Theatre on April 10.

The Sunday performance will start at 2 p.m.

“A gentle giant with kind eyes and an undeniable ability to make you feel good about yourself, this musical master brings 45 years of commitment, consistency and depth to a career that skillfully blends the many genres of performing and communication,” states a news release announcing the performance.

It’s part of an 11-city cross-country tour that starts March 16 in Prince Edward Island and winds up July 31 in Kenora, ON to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Cat Came Back album.

There are seven dates in B.C., including Revelstoke on April 9.

In his 45 years, Penner has put out 12 albums of children’s songs, countless energetic live shows, 13 seasons of Fred Penner’s Place, was a two-time Juno award winner and given the Order of Canada.

He’s also been a strong advocate for children and has been the spokesperson for organizations like UNESCO, World Vision, UNICEF and the National Conference on Down Syndrome with a key message to “never underestimate your ability to make a difference in the life of a child.”
