Last weekend for outdoor markets in Penticton

PENTICTON - This is the last weekend of the season to take in local outdoor markets before they move indoors or suspend activity until next year. There’s lots to do indoors as well, as we mark the final weekend in October in the South Okanagan.

World renowned circus arts entertainer Sandra Sommerville brings her “Safire” circus arts show to the Cleland Community Theatre on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 and available at Eventbrite, Tumbleweed Gallery, The Prague Cafe, Penticton Arts Council Office, Oliver Veterinary Clinic, The Beanery Cafe in Summerland and the Penticton Art Gallery. Make a Film in a Weekend is a free workshop hosted by filmmakers Jeff Chiba Stearns, Patrick Shannon and Thomas-Isaac Came, taking place Friday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Shatford Centre. Fred Penner, two-time Juno Award winner for best children's album, takes the stage of the Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver on tonight, Oct. 25. The show gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $12.50. See the Frank Venables Theatre website for more information.

Alley CATS Alliance is holding their book sale fundraiser across from the South Okanagan BCSPCA at 109-2203 Dartmouth Dr. on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Support Okanagan cats and kittens with the purchase of some great reading materials

It’s the last outdoor Penticton Farmers' Market for the season in the 100 block of Main Street before the market moves indoors for November and December. This year’s market won the Penticton Chamber of Commerce’s Tourism Excellence Award.

The Penticton Wellness Fair at the Penticton Community Centre is on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Penticton Community Centre at 325 Power St. Find a huge selection of vendors including weight loss products, chiropractors, essential oils, organic products, massage therapists and more. There is no cost to attend the fair.

The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra presents the music of Harry Potter at the Cleland Community Theatre on Saturday at 2 p.m. The magic of Harry Potter is brought to life in readings and music in the performance, which also features guest artists Anthony Knight and Nina Ogasawara.

Halloween Day of Destruction at the Penticton Speedway is Sunday at 2 p.m. as the speedway presents its final event of 2018. There will be four classes on the track, including street stocks, late models and hit to pass, concluding with a Day of Destruction boat and trailer smash up. Kids 10 and under are free, and Halloween costumes are encouraged.

The BCSPCA flea market operates on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s the final market of the season at 1500 Main St. in Penticton.
