Kamloops police officers seized four kilograms of suspected oxycodone, a stolen trailer and $1,800 in cash during an impaired driving investigation late last month.
Police were responding to a report of an erratic and possibly impaired driver travelling on the Trans-Canada Highway from Chase to Kamloops around 1:45 p.m., Feb. 27, according to an RCMP media release
An officer with the Kamloops RCMP Traffic Unit located the truck on Highway 1 at Vicars Road and conducted a vehicle stop.
“During the officer’s investigation, he discovered the truck’s trailer had been reported stolen out of Alberta,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “The driver was arrested and a search that followed revealed two large Ziplock bags containing suspected oxycodone and a substantial amount of cash.”
The driver, who was unlicensed, was released from custody and issued violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act. The truck was impounded for seven days and the trailer, cash, and drugs were seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
