LAKE COUNTRY - The All Are Family Outreach group in Lake Country thought they'd have a bare fridge for customers this Christmas, but a late burst of community generosity has kept them well stocked for the holiday season.

Last week, the Outreach's fridge malfunctioned, spoiling $1,000-worth of meat, primarily free-range chicken. The group made a social media post asking for any donations and received a strong response. Clary Laufnef, executive director with the group, is pleased with the donations that have poured in.

"It's very wonderful," she said. "I wasn't sure we were going to get anything."

The group received 10 turkeys, 75 lbs. of hamburger meat, and $500 in cash donations, among other items.

In fact, they've gotten so much food their looking for extra storage space. They currently have 1,700 eggs in their fridge, which leaves little room for other refrigerated food. They've sent out another post asking everyone for a functional single-door fridge.

"We like to have as much food on hand as possible," Laufnef said.

The Outreach group provides healthy food for families in need. Laufnef complimented her 20 volunteers for working extra hard this holiday season.

They're open every Thursday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Their doors will be open on Dec. 27, providing food options for families during holiday hours.

"We agreed that we should be open on the holidays," Laufnef said.

All Are Family Outreach is located at 11370 Bottom Wood Lake Rd.
