LAKE COUNTRY - The All Are Family Outreach group in Lake Country is warning people who recently received meet from them to throw it away due to a freezer malfunction.

In a Facebook post the group said meat stored in their freezer, which was mostly free-range organic chicken, had thawed out. The group said that due to the power outage in the area Tuesday, Dec. 11, the freezer had been without electricity for two days since its plug needs to be manually reset.

The group received complaints from families about the smell of the meat and checked the freezer, discovering the spoiled food. The Facebook post told anyone with meat from the All Are Family Outreach to dispose of it. They sent the remaining thawed meat to the Vernon dump.

The group relayed in the post that they were now out of $1,000 worth of food right before Christmas. They're asking hunters, fishers, butchers, and individuals to donate whatever food they can to the group.

"We're hoping it won't be so bad," said Clary Laufnef, executive director for the group. "A lady bought 10 turkeys for us."

The organizations, which provides healthy food for familiies in need from Armstrong to West Kelowna, is located at 11370 Bottom Wood Lake Rd. They can be reached at 250-503-4983 or aafoutreach@hotmail.com.
