KELOWNA - An Okanagan woman is competing against hundreds of others for a life-changing cash prize and magazine spread.

Taelor Gaschnitz from Lake Country has entered in the Ms Health and Fitness 2019 competition, a global event that attracts hundreds of athletic women. The pool will eventually be whittled down to one winner who will receive $20,000 and a two-page spread in Muscle and Fitness Hers.

Gaschnitz said she returned to the gym eight months ago after taking a 12 year break to raise her family. Gaschnitz, who exercises five to seven times a week, said her total body workouts have been amazing for her physical and mental health. She's always looking for new challenges and the Ms Health and Fitness competition seemed like the perfect outlet for her to push herself.

If she climbs to the top of the winner's podium, Gaschnitz said it would be incredible to be featured in the magazine, as it would show women the power of healthy living.

"It would give women a chance to see what you're capable of," she said.

Gaschnitz plans to use the ample reward money to spend quality time with her family free of stress and distractions. She has family spread across the prairies and Germany and she'd love to see them.

Gaschnitz is currently placed second in her voting block. She's competing to enter the top 30. Voting ends on July 3 at 8 p.m. local time.

You can vote for Gaschnitz here.
