A popular resort near Kamloops is reopening after being closed for five years.

Lac Le Jeune resort has new owners and announced it will be opening on May 16 as a year-round destination with many outdoor activities to offer.

“We are aware of the value of this property to the local community and the nostalgia that is involved,” said co-owner Vivek Sharma. “We are trying to recreate the magic of what it used to be.”

The five-acre lakefront resort is a 20-minute drive southwest of Kamloops on Lac Le Jeune Road and has several cabins for accommodation, and lots of space for summer and winter outdoor activities.

Prior to the former owners closing the resort in 2019, it had been in operation since the 1970s.

Sharma didn't know what caused the closure.

“I don’t have information on that, the previous owners had it for a long time,” he said. “Our focus is looking ahead and what it means for us and the community.”

The resort is re-opening on May 16 and will host guests for leisure, travel, events, weddings and conferences.

“Our focus is on disconnecting to reconnect, we live in a fast-paced world and everyone is running at a million miles an hour and if someone wants to do nothing but enjoy the serenity this is the place to do it.”
