VERNON - Fire investigators believe arson was the cause of the Kin Racetrack grandstands fire.
The suspicious fire consumed the grandstands overlooking the race track July 4. An unstable charred structure remained and firefighters had to wait until it was safe to enter before combing through the debris to begin collecting evidence. Several cases of arson have been sparking up across Vernon in recent weeks.
Electrical has been ruled out as a cause. Further details are not being released at this time because investigators don't want to compromise their investigation should the information be needed for court, RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said in a press release.
