KELOWNA - A Kelowna youth who was stabbed earlier this week passed away in hospital on Sunday night.

Robyn Beauregard announced on Facebook that his son, 16-year-old Elijah-Iain Bearegard, died on June 30. Elijah-Iain had been in critical condition for several days.

Earlier this week, police said a 16-year-old male youth had been found in downtown Kelowna with stab wounds. Police said they identified and released a suspect in the case, which is still under investigation. Police said the suspect and the victim knew each other.

An outpouring of grief over Elijah-Iain's death is filling social media as people extend their condolences to his family.
