A 54-year-old woman from the Kelowna area has been arrested and charged with homicide in connection to a suspicious death in October in the city.

Officers were called to a home in the 600 block of Bechard Road in Kelowna, Oct. 18, where they found the body of a man whose death investigators said was suspicious, according to an RCMP media release.

A female suspect was arrested at the scene in connection with the investigation but was later released without charge, RCMP said.

Yesterday, the B.C. Public Prosecution service approved a second-degree murder against Billie Jo Bennett, 54, and she was arrested today, Dec. 8, in Kamloops.

Bennett remains in custody awaiting a court date.

RCMP said no further information will be released as the matter is before the courts.
