Two men have been arrested and are facing charges after RCMP say they used a stolen truck to try and steal a bobcat in Kelowna.

Officers responded to a business compound in the 100 block of Pinto Road in Kelowna where two men were allegedly attempted to steal a bobcat, Feb. 1, at roughly 10:30 p.m., according to an RCMP press release.

One man was arrested at the scene while the other fled on foot and was eventually located by a police dog.

"The pickup, and the trailer that were used in this theft were stolen a few days before this incident," said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, spokesperson for the Kelowna RCMP, in the press release.

Two men, Michael Grant, 38, and Kaare Vaagen, 46, were held in custody and brought before the court.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges of break and enter, theft, uttering threats and obstruction against Grant. Vaagen is facing charges of theft of vehicle and possession of stolen property, RCMP said.

The investigation is ongoing. As the incident is before the courts, police will not be releasing further information.
