A Kelowna teacher has been charged with child luring after a more than three month investigation.

In May 2023, Kelowna RCMP began an investigation into teacher Jeffrey Allen Jennens after allegations surfaced that he engaged in inappropriate communication with a student, according to an RCMP media release.

Jennens is listed as a teacher in the Rutland Senior Secondary staff directory.

Evidence gathered was reviewed by the RCMP's Kelowna Sex Crimes Unit, and the teacher was arrested and placed on several conditions.

The evidence was then forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service which laid charges of child luring against Jennens on Aug. 18, RCMP said.

Jennens was scheduled to appear in Kelowna Provincial Court today, Aug. 21.
