An employee working at Kelowna's Superstore has tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee tested positive on Nov. 12, but last worked at the store Nov. 1, according to an announcement posted on the Loblaws website, which owns Superstore.

Mask use is required at the Kelowna store, and Loblaws posted in the case where there is a COVID-19 case in stores, "we work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores."

Over the last few days, COVID-19 cases have surged in the Interior Health region and across the province.

Interior Health does not identify businesses with individual cases unless an outbreak is declared.

The public health agency asks the public to keep a small social bubble to the safe six and avoid travel, especially to the Lower Mainland at this time.

"A growing number of people in British Columbia are now self-isolating at home, away from their work, school, friends and family, which in turn is creating unnecessary financial and emotional strain for far too many,” states a joint news release from provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix, in a press release issued Nov. 10.
