VICTORIA - The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-3 on Friday night, Jan. 15, at the Save-On Foods Memorial Arena in Victoria in the first of two games between the two teams this weekend.

The Rockets trailed 3-0 after two periods before beginning a comeback that fell just a goal short in the loss, dropping the Rockets record to 29-11-3-0 on the season.

Tanner Wishnowski, Calvin Thurkauf and Nick Merkley scored third period goals for the Rockets, who outshot Victoria 13-6 in the period but couldn't find the tying goal late in the game.
