KELOWNA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Everett Silvertips 5-3 on Friday night at Prospera Place, winning the first of two games this weekend between the top two teams in the WHL Western Conference.
Tyson Baillie scored twice, including the game winning goal in the third period, as the Rockets improved to 35-8-3-0 on the season with the win.
Kelowna led 1-0 after the first period as Tyrell Goulbourne opened the scoring for the Rockets before Everett tied the game before the early in the second period.
Rourke Chartier put the Rockets ahead for good in the second period scoring his 39th goal of the season in his 39th game and the Rockets took a 2-1 lead to the dressing room.
Baillie scored twice in the third as the Rockets took a 4-2 lead before Everett cut the Rockets lead to 4-3 with a late goal. Cole Linaker scored into an empty net to seal the win.
Jackson Whistle earned the win in net as the Silvertips outshot Kelowna 31-26 in the game.
The same two teams will meet again Saturday night at Prospera Place.
