KELOWNA - A Kelowna resident is celebrating his winnings after matching five out of five numbers on the Daily Grand bonus draw.

Robert Pearce says he is planning an early retirement after winning $25,000 a year for life. Pearce scanned his winning ticket at a local grocery store where he also purchased the ticket, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release.

"I couldn't quite comprehend the amount," Pearce says in the release. "I've only played Daily Grand a few times, I was completely speechless."

Pearce won on Sept. 20 and chose between $25,000 a year for life or a lump sum of $500,000.

The Kelowna resident says he will now have more time to enjoy the things he loves to do.

"My first thought was I would like to retire," he says. "I'll get a new truck and camper and spend more time hunting and fishing. But more importantly I'll live stress-free and that is something I'm really excited about."

According to the B.C. Lottery Corporation, Pearce is one of two Daily Grand Bonus Draw winners from B.C. The other winner is from Vancouver.

Pearce purchased his winning ticket at the Real Canadian Superstore in West Kelowna.
