Kelowna RCMP are searching for an urn filled with a deceased person’s ashes.
Police received a call about a vehicle break-in on Oct. 26, according to a press release.
The car’s owner told officers someone broke into their Ford Explorer overnight and among the items stolen, the thief took an urn with her mother’s ashes, along with a black suitcase with pink and purple polka dots, and a gold and red spray-painted toolbox.
"Most of what was stolen can be replaced, but returning the victim's deceased mother's ashes is our primary focus for our investigators," Const. Mike Della-Paolera, Kelowna RCMP, said in the release.
RCMP are searching for anyone with information or dash camera footage around 140 Asher Road on the night of Oct. 25.
If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area that night they are asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or give an anonymous tip to crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
