KELOWNA - Police in Kelowna have uncovered a "conduit of drugs" by targeting a member of an organized criminal organization operating in the Okanagan.

The Kelowna RCMP drug unit focussed on a known member of the Independent Soldiers, which lead investigators to cache of fake IDs, money, passports and a vast collection of drugs.

The 32-year-old member of the crime gang led investigators to a drug trafficking conduit that directly targeted vulnerable people associated with a Kelowna shelter, according to an RCMP media release.

Police executed a search warrant in the 500 Block of Valley Road yesterday, Dec. 19. They seized a conducted energy weapon (Taser), passports, money, stolen credit card IDs, and a vast array of drugs, including cocaine, heroin, shatter, ocycontin and what is believed to be fentanyl.

“The result of this investigation and drugs seized... will have a direct impact on the drug supply to not only the vulnerable persons and others in downtown Kelowna, but also throughout the Okanagan Valley,” Cpl. Jeff Carroll with the Kelowna RCMP Drug Unit said in the release.

The 32-year-old man, along with a 44-year-old man suspected of being an associate, are facing a litany of drug and weapons charges, police say.
