Police are investigating a possible drowning, and are asking the public to avoid the Kelowna Downtown Marina.
Kelowna RCMP received a report about a man who drowned in Okanagan Lake near the marina around 4:30 a.m. today, according to a press release from police.
Police, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, and the Kelowna Fire Department have been unable to recover his body.
Officers are waiting for RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team to recover the deceased.
The cause of death is not confirmed but police said it does not appear suspicious.
“Police are asking the public to stay away from the area of the marina to allow this important work to continue. Please keep all marine traffic 100 feet away from the marina and reduce wake in the area,” Sgt. Laura Pollock said in the release.
RCMP are not releasing further details at this time.
