Kelowna RCMP are appealing for witnesses to come forward in the hope of returning a stolen dog to its owner.

According to a Kelowna RCMP media release, the theft of "Shayla" took place at roughly 7 p.m. April 3 in the 1500 block of Banks Road.

RCMP say Shayla's owner tied the eight-pound black and grey Havanese to a tree outside of a restaurant while he went inside and picked up food. RCMP do not identify the business.

However, when he returned Shayla was gone.

RCMP report witnesses saw two unidentified women in a black passenger car had stopped and allegedly stole the dog.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Or remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
