RCMP are asking drivers to slow down on Highway 33 heading out of Kelowna due to extremely icy conditions thanks to today's snowfall.

Police closed Highway 33 earlier today, Oct. 23, near Idabel Lake after numerous vehicles slid off the road or collided, according to an RCMP media release. Police did not say how bad the collisions were.

RCMP have since reopened the route now that it has been cleared, but warn conditions are still extremely icy and advise drivers to slow down and drive to the weather conditions.

Snowfall warnings are in effect for the southern Interior and drivers can expect to see 10 to 15 centimetres of snow fall today.

For the latest road conditions go to Drive B.C.'s website here.
