WEST KELOWNA - A Kelowna man is facing potential charges after police found him slumped over behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle.

Yesterday afternoon, Sept. 3, a man was spotted hunched over the steering wheel of a silver Honda Civic in the area of 3400 block of Old Okanagan Highway. An officer spotted the man and went to check on his well-being, according to a RCMP media release.

The officer quickly noticed the vehicle the man was in had been reported stolen and had been allegedly taken sometime throughout the night from a Sutherland Avenue address, says the release.

“Our officer managed to arrest the male without incident,“ Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release. “After positively identifying the individual she also discovered that he was wanted on outstanding warrants for his arrest and in breach of his probation order.”

The 38-year-old man was taken into police custody and is scheduled to appear in Kelowna Law Courts today, Sept. 4.
