A suspect was briefly detained for having child pornography in Kelowna earlier this month.
Kelowna RCMP searched a home and seized devices, but won't say much else about the investigation.
Officers executed the search warrant on Jan. 5, but police didn't say where in the city it was. Police also didn't say how old the suspect is nor their gender.
Kelowna RCMP wouldn't provide details when iNFOnews.ca asked whether the victims could be local children.
"No further details will be released," Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in an emailed response.
The suspect was released without charges as the devices are searched and the investigation continues.
The news release touched on the newly-created Internet Child Exploitation unit. The new unit was created in response to a growing prevalence of child exploitation and online sexual abuse material in the past three years, both nationally and in Kelowna.
