Kelowna RCMP are searching for a man who has been massaging women's feet without their permission after telling them he is a reflexologist.
Last month, Aug. 11, a woman was a in parking lot in the 1800 block of Harvey Avenue when she was approached by a man claiming to be a reflexologist and asked to take photos of her feet at around 10:20 a.m.
The woman was caught off guard but agreed to the photos. Then, he started massaging and rubbing her feet, asking her if it felt good and if he could take two minutes to give her a proper massage, according to a Kelowna RCMP news release.
She said no but he continued to rub her feet, telling her “in about 30 seconds you will feel so good,” according to the RCMP.
The man was described as Caucasian, 50 years old, six-feet tall with short salt and pepper hair and was wearing a blue Blue Jays shirt.
Then, on Sept. 1, the RCMP received another report that a 19-year-old woman was in the parking lot on the 2900 block of Pandosy Street around 10:50 a.m. when a middle-aged man persuaded her to let him rub and video record her feet.
The woman said he told her he liked her toenail polish. He asked to look at the bottom of her feet and asked her questions, like if she is on her feet all day.
Again, the man claimed he was a reflexologist and asked her multiple personal questions. The woman said she saw the man's cell phone was recording the interaction and she was frozen in fear during the incident.
The man asked to inspect her other foot, but she put her shoes back on and walked away. She stated she felt the interaction was sexual and was victimized by the encounter, according to the RCMP.
“Kelowna RCMP are extremely concerned by these two separate and unusual interactions,” said Const. Terry Jimmieson, police officer with the Kelowna RCMP, in the news release. “We are looking to speak with this man in order to understand his motives.”
The man in the second incident was described as middle aged, with a short, kept beard, was roughly five-foot-10 with a slim build. The male was walking a small dog at the time.
The RCMP are asking that if you have been approached by this man and not yet contacted the RCMP to do so at 250-762-3300 and reference police file 2022-55425.
