Abbotsford police returned the review into the Mona Wang wellness check to the RCMP and are asking for further investigation.

“I can confirm that the matter has been reviewed by Abbotsford Police and has been returned to the RCMP with further investigation required,” Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said in a press release. “We are conducting the necessary follow-up, I have no diary date with respect to when this will be completed.”

Shoihet added she is not in a position to provide any further specifics concerning the follow-up that is required.

In June, Wang’s lawyer Michael Patterson released a surveillance video of Kelowna RCMP Const. Lacy Browning dragging the UBC Okanagan student down a hallway, and then stepping on her head as part of a civil suit against the RCMP.

Browning had been called to Wang's apartment when her boyfriend called the police expressing concern for her well being.

Browning was placed on desk duty, and the Kelowna RCMP began a criminal investigation into her actions.
