KELOWNA - Home Grown is a hand-craft market running every second Saturday until September 7 at the Kelowna Innovation Centre.
The market is free to attend and is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The next market is this Saturday June 15, so if you’re in need of a last minute Father’s Day gift, you’re in luck.
Daniel Connolly, owner of specialty coffee company The Local Chemist, is the mind behind the creation of this market, which he styled after the East Side Flea market in Vancouver.
The Home Grown market gives local small businesses an opportunity to share their art with the community, and in turn, gives market-goers an opportunity to get to know the vendors and what they are passionate about.
The market features handcraft vendors selling everything from bathing suits to bowl cozies, and also features live music, a coffee bar and food trucks.
Home Grown will also host a night market on July 12 and August 9 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Connolly also hopes to one day make the market bi-weekly and give vendors a regular platform to grow their businesses and create a supportive community for small business owners.
