A Kelowna resident is $85,000 better off after scooping a win at a Super Bowl party.

Wesley Heppner was at a Super Bowl party when he made an impulse decision to purchase a B.C. 50/50 lottery ticket, a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release says.

"A friend said he had some 50/50 tickets so during the half time I ran to the store to pick up a few as well," Heppner said in the release.

The ticket netted him $85,204.50.

"I was so happy and kept calling my girlfriend to come and see but she didn’t believe me at first," he said.

Heppner bought his ticket from the Otter Co-op on Main Street in Kelowna and was at home when he found out he'd won.

He says he's going to use some of his winnings to upgrade his truck.

"It feels really good," he says.
