KAMLOOPS - A 27-year-old man is facing several charges after police say he broke into a Kamloops Shoppers Drug Mart and drove dangerously.

RCMP say at about 1 a.m., July 21, officers responded to an alarm at the drug store on Summit Drive.

When police arrived they found a glass pane had been broken with a cement brick, according to a RCMP media release.

"Shortly after, a report came in of a hit-and-run involving a pick-up truck on Highway 1 at Hillside Drive," Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.

The driver of the pick-up had hit a semi-truck, then struck a cement traffic barrier before fleeing the scene.

The suspect pick-up from the hit-and-run was located a short time later in Aberdeen, police say. The driver of the vehicle was found at a residence nearby.

Evidence lead officers to believe he was both the suspect in the hit-and-run and also the break-and-enter at Shoppers Drug Mart.

The suspect was arrested and is facing break-and-enter and dangerous driving charges.

The man is from Kelowna and is known to police.
