Kelowna man arrested after theft, assault at storefront

A 20-year-old Kelowna man is in custody after allegedly stealing from a local store and threatening a loss prevention officer on Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Feb. 18, Kelowna RCMP responded to report of an alleged theft and assault committed at a store on the 1400 block of Harvey Avenue in Kelowna.

“A man walked into the store, stole merchandise and attempted to flee the scene,” says Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy in a media release. “When the loss prevention officer attempted to recover the stolen item, the suspect allegedly produced what appeared to be mace and threatened him.”

The man remains in custody and faces a number of charges.
