Kelowna man arrested after allegedly assaulting person, police officers

A Kelowna man is potentially facing charges for allegedly assaulting another person and RCMP officers yesterday.

Kelowna RCMP officers responded to a home in the 2700-block of KLO Road where a man had allegedly assaulted an adult victim last night, July 28, just before 8 p.m., according to an RCMP press release.

Police officers attempted to arrest the suspect, who then allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted officers.

He was taken into custody with the assistance of backup police officers who arrived on scene.

The 35-year-old Kelowna man has been held in custody and will be brought before the court. The full findings of the investigation will be submitted to the B.C. Prosecution Service for review, according to the RCMP.

"The victim and suspect were known to each other, and the incident is believed to be an isolated one," said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, media liaison with the Kelowna RCMP, in the press release.

The RCMP will not be releasing any additional details on the matter at this time.
