KELOWNA - With more than two million passengers flying out of Kelowna Airport in 2018, it’s now looking to take over land in the Ellison area of the regional district in order to grow.
A report going to Kelowna council on Monday, May 6, is recommending a request go to the Regional District of the Central Okanagan asking it to turn the property over to the City.
The airport’s expansion plan calls for a taxi-way east of the existing runway.
A map attached to the report shows the lands in question stretching all the way east to Old Vernon Road and south to Bulman Road through land that is owned by the City but leased to the Okanagan Polo Club.
The report says the polo club is planning to relocate.
