Kelowna kangaroo farm opens for season

The Kangaroo Creek Farm is open for the season at its new Kelowna location on Old Vernon Road.

A popular Kelowna farm that allows customers to interact with Australian wildlife has opened for the season.

The Kangaroo Creek Farm, located at 5932 Old Vernon Road near the Kelowna airport, opened for the season April 29, according to the farm's website. The petting zoo will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. everyday, including holidays, through to October.

This is the second season the farm has operated in Kelowna after leaving its Lake Country location due to a lack of space.

The farm has a unique selection of creatures ranging from kangaroos to capybaras.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are some precautions in place.

This year the farm has added a debit/credit card machine and encourage guests to tap. Admissions staff will be behind plexiglass shields and they will wipe the machine if the tap option isn’t used. There will be a hand wash station available and people will be asked to wash their hands before they come into the farm.

Physical distancing will also be required.

The farm charges $12 for adults, $6 for children, youth and seniors older than 65. Children ages four and younger get in for free.
