Two Rutland haunted houses are offering a scary experience for adults and children to raise funds for a cause.
President Mark Lanchick with Urban Bulldogs Against Kids Abuse’s Kelowna chapter said the group has been in the Okanagan for the last two years and holds fundraisers for children and women who have been abused.
Located on at the corner of Hollywood and Leathead Roads, this is the first time they'll offer a haunted house experience. Two outdoor houses are set up on site, the larger one is for those ages 10 and up and a smaller one for the younger kids, he said.

The idea was proposed last year but it was too late in the season to plan it out so they settled on 2021, Lanchick said.
Groups will be split up as people come through for COVID-19 safety, he said.
Roughly 10 people were on site Saturday afternoon creating props for the haunted outdoor houses. Six to eight different scares will be set up throughout the night.

“It’s all live, everything is live,” Lanchick said.
Cash donations will be accepted and donations can also be given to the national organization.
Across the street, neighbours are also taking part in the fundraiser.
“We have friends of ours across the street that decided they’re going to do one as well so we’ll have people on the crosswalk… helping people cross the road,” Lanchick said.
The haunted houses will be open Oct. 31 from roughly 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
