Franz Huber’s cauliflowers grew exceptionally well this year — these heads are roughly 14 pounds each.

An avid gardener who lives off his produce as much as possible, he said the secret to the bountiful cauliflowers is to use OgoGrow, a City of Kelowna-made compost using wastewater and hog fuel and a berry soil mix as fertilizer.
He always buys his plants at The Greenery and plants them once temperatures rise above -1. This year, he planted his cauliflowers on April 24.

“I’m sure I’ve grown just as big ones before, I just felt like taking a picture. My daughter was here and she said ‘dad those are big, take a picture,” he said.
He posted the photo in the Kelowna Garden Enthusiasts Facebook group and gained more than 150 reactions.
His garden sprawls on his third of an acre property and it’s been established there for the last 25 years.
As for the cauliflower, he’s already chopped them up and put them in his freezer, he said.
