Kelowna Chiefs lose at home

KELOWNA - Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs six game winning streak came to a halt Saturday night.

The Chiefs were defeated 4 – 3 by the Summerland Steam at Rutland Arena.

Summerland got on the board at 10:54 in the first period to take the early lead.

The Steam would dominate the second period, scoring three goals back to back to back to take a 4 – 0 lead.

It wasn’t until 6:40 in the second when Brady Mende (1G, 1A) would score on the powerplay to get the Chiefs on the board.  Dylan Jamieson would add one as well.

Kelowna fought back as hard as they could with Matthew Naka scoring in the third to make the game 4 – 3 but it wasn’t enough.

Adding assists for the Chiefs was Nicholas Gnazdowsky (2A), Alex Gran, Chase Astorino and Ryan Baim.

Next up for the Kelowna Chiefs is a home game against the Osoyoos Coyotes on Tuesday November 12th at Rutland Arena.  Puck drop is at 7PM.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs defeated the North Okanagan Knights 3 – 1 on Friday November 8th in Armstrong.

Scoring for Kelowna was Jagger Bowles (1G, 2A), Nicholas Kovacik and Nick Josephs (1G, 1A).

Tyler O’Donnell and Connor DeMelo split time between the pipes in the victory.
