The city’s one and only strip club will no longer offer exotic dancers starting next month.

The Duchess on Tranquille Nightclub will be switching to a nightclub venue starting Nov. 2.

“We decided with the new development of the North Shore and Tranquille Road... that a nightclub venue would be a better fit the for the community,” Sam Parrotta, management with the Duchess on Tranquille, says.

Since the announcement was made on Facebook, Parrotta says there have been mixed reviews from the community.

“Of course there is going to be a lot of mixed reaction but it’s mostly positive and I think that in the future people are going to understand that it’s going to be a very positive change for the community and in recent years we have been much more than a strip club, we have had a lot of local and live entertainment,” he says.

Parrotta says the nightclub has recently hosted various drag shows, bands and DJs from all over Canada and outside the country.

“We just know that this is a better fit in the community and excited for the changes,” he says.

A few years ago the same nightclub announced it would no longer be hosting exotic dancers only to reverse that decision a short time later.

Parrotta says they are firm on their decision to change the venue from a strip club to a nightclub.
