KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops Girl Guides leader is asking for the public’s help after 70 Girl Guides crests were stolen from her mailbox last week.

Darlene Clark is a guider with the the local Girl Guides and the crests were ordered to celebrate 20 seven- and eight year-old girls for selling more than 400 cases of cookies.

Clark says she spoke with another guider to pick up the crests from her home in Brocklehurst that were inside of an envelope on Wednesday, Jul. 10.

When she got home from work later that day she noticed the crests were gone and assumed they had already been picked up from her mailbox.

“Then on Thursday night my co-guider sends me a message and says ‘Hey I’m super sorry I haven’t been able to stop by I will come get them soon.’’’

Clark says they realized the envelope had most likely been stolen.

“It’s unfortunate,” she says. “The crests are something the girls could tangibly hold and go ‘I sold all these cookies.’’’

Clark says she posted to Facebook saying the items were taken from her front porch and says she has seen a lot of support.

“People are being really considerate about getting the word out and we are hoping we find the envelope somewhere in a ditch,” she says.

There are a variety of crests inside a manila padded envelope. The Cookie All Star badges are awarded to girls for selling cookie boxes.

Anyone with information can get in contact with Darlene Clark through the Brock Community Chat Facebook page.
