Salvation Army in Kamloops

Urgently needs more volunteers for their annual Christmas Kettle Campaign running from November 16th – December 24th. The money raised at kettles is used to provide clothing, shelter, food, toys, financial assistance and counselling year-round. We do our best to ensure that no family goes without food, not child is without presents under the tree, and that Christmas is a time of hope and healing. Kettle shifts are often very flexible, and we can work around your schedule.

BC Wildlife Park 19th Annual Wildlights Festival running from December 9th to January 2nd 2017.  

Need volunteers to assist with zookeepers in maintaining a safe environment at our Home Hardware Family Farm. Volunteers with be interacting with Park guests as they interact with goats. Volunteers will also be keeping the barn area clean. Must be physically fit, able to work in the cold and comfortable around livestock.

Oncore Seniors Society

Snow Angels Volunteers- Oncore Seniors Society needs volunteers in all areas of our community to shovel snow for seniors registered through our program. Each time a Snow Angel shovels they will receive a coupon from Dominos for a free pizza.  Volunteers have a 24 hour window to shovel only the driveway and front sidewalk. Must be reliable and hardworking.

Canadian Mental Health Association

We are seeking Volunteer Sewing Instructor to co-facilitate / support new and existing members of the CMHA Quilting Program. The volunteer should have the ability to teach members basic sewing skills, operate sewing machines, and develop quality products. He or she should possess strong communication skills and facilitation skills, be able to work effectively with a diverse population, and be at least 19 years of age.

Canadian Mental Health Association

Client and Family Advisory Committee Member- The aim is to represent views of families and clients in the Kamloops and Merritt communities on the following: quality and appropriateness of the services offered, opportunities for service improvements, education partnering opportunities to decrease the stigma and improve quality of life.

The term is a minimum of a two years and a maximum of four years. Responsibilities include: attending committee meetings (twice a year), read and be familiar with the CFA committee Terms of Reference, keep confidential matters confidential, attend and actively participate in all committee meetings in person or by conference call, provide input and new ideas to the committee, assist in summarizing feedback, suggestions and concerns.

White Buffalo Aboriginal And Metis Health Society

Volunteer Receptionist- A volunteer receptionist is needed on Wednesdays from 10-2pm. They must be 19+ to volunteer, be responsible, reliable, friendly, flexible, a people person, and have good phone manners. Detailed message recording skills are necessary. The volunteer will track calls, do services on excel, call agencies to determine the correct contact info, photo copy, and process applications. They must be able to handle possible conflict and resolution.

Hospice Association

Cook/Baker Volunteers - The Volunteers will assist in cooking an assortment of baked goods, homemade soups, and other meal prep on a daily basis for patients, families, and visitors. 19+ to volunteer. The volunteers must possess FoodSafe Level 1.

River City Squash

Volunteer Coaches- Volunteers who are C level squash players are needed to help supervise children in grades 4-8 and 13 year old teens while they are learning the sport. Other volunteer positions include helping with homework, counselling, and riding with the group to and from the facility. Volunteers should have some basic knowledge of physical fitness, know grade school math and sciences, and be very patient.

Volunteer Kamloops and General Grants Recycling

Volunteer Kamloops has an account at all General Grants Recycling Facilities. When you return your empties at either the 611 Fortune Drive North Shore location or at the 963 Camosun Crescent location behind TRU, request that the refundable amount go directly to Volunteer Kamloops. In return, we support the volunteers and non-profit agencies in our community.
