KAMLOOPS – As Value Village prepares to moves out, their downtown Kamloops home has already been sold.
Total Concept Development has purchased the 24,000 square foot retail space, according to manager Sheila Minten.
The Kamloops-based company has entered into an agreement with Value Village allowing the second hand goods retailer to stay there until their new location at Sahali Mall is open; after that the development company is looking for new businesses to lease it.
"Hopefully we’ll get a retail location in there," Minten says. "I think retail tenants would be great."
While she isn't certain of the date Value Village will move from the store, she expects to have new tenants by winter. Some talks have already taken place with potential tenants, but nothing has been secured.
The building may see some redesign, depending on what and how many businesses move in. Due to the size of the space, Minten says the location may get broken up into multiple spaces.
The location is zoned for a variety of uses, including restaraunts, retailers and hotels.
Realtor Brendan Shaw, who dealt with the transaction, says the sale of the site went fairly quick.
The site is a block away from the Kamloops Daily News building, a site which has spent years in limbo and is now scheduled to become a parking lot.
