On Sunday, November 20th, Wai Hung Ma will attempt a swim challenge in support of United Way. He will swim for 5,400 seconds; impressive for most but even more so for Wai.  Wai has Cerebral Palsy.

When asked why he is doing the fundraiser, Wai responded “Over the years I have been helped by many non-profit groups that United Way supports; now I would like to help United Way in my little own way.”

This is Wai’s second swim challenge this year and follows “Swim all the Wai” a fundraiser in support of the YMCA – YWCA Emergency Women’s shelter.

United Way strives to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action in the Thompson Nicola Cariboo region and is thrilled to be a part of Wai’s second swim challenge.

“United Way is excited to be partnering with Wai to raise dollars for and awareness of the critical needs in our community. Wai’s resilience, determination and strength are exactly the characteristics a community needs to thrive” says Executive Director, Danalee Baker.

The November 20 event is open to the public and donations in support can be made here.
