KAMLOOPS - Temperatures will return to more seasonal normals in Kamloops as the Christmas weekend approaches, but with the change in temperature comes some snow.

Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud today, Dec. 19, with a light wind and a high of -2 Celsius. It will become cloudy this evening with 5 centimetres of snow expected overnight and a low of -5 C.

The warming trend will continue throughout the week.

Tomorrow expect a daytime high of -1 C and a 60 per cent of flurries with a low of  -7 C overnight.

On Wednesday and Thursday we may see some melting with a forecast highs of around 4 C during the day and lows of about -1 C at night. There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries Thursday night and all day Friday. The mercury will climb to 1 C on Friday with a low of -5 that night.

It will cool off a bit for the Chrismast weekend. The forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud both days, with a high of -1 C on Christmas Eve and a high of -3 on Christmas Day.

If you are planning to travel on the highways in the Southern Interior today be aware of the snowfall warning for mountain passes in the region.

Environement Canada has issued the snowfall warning for the Trans Canada Highway from the Rogers Pass to Eagle Pass, and from the Kootenay Pass to the Paulson Summitt on Highway 3.

For the latest highway conditions go to Drive BC.
