Slather on some sunscreen and pack your own shade this week — it's going to get hot.

With the first official day of summer in the rearview mirror, the heat is really going to set for a week of nearly all full-sun days.

From Kelowna to Kamloops and Vernon to Penticton, Environment Canada is forecasting high temperatures ranging from 32C as the week starts up to 40 C by the weekend. The only reprieve is Wednesday when a few clouds rolling in will reduce the temperatures.

If you live in Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon, the week will start out hot and just get hotter.

Today’s high is expected to be 35 C, Wednesday’s 33 C, Thursday 29 C, Friday 33 C and Saturday and Sunday are both expected to be 38 C.

Kamloops is where the heat is really setting in.

Today. temperatures are expected to reach 35 C, on Wednesday and Thursday it’s forecast to be 32 C and on Friday get ready for 37 C days. On Saturday and Sunday, however, it’s expected to get steamy with back-to-back 40 C days.

And it's not just the B.C. Interior; Environment Canada has been issuing heat warnings for the bulk of the lower mainland this weekend.

Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, Whistler, Sunshine Coast, Southern Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island are all expected to have maximum temperatures five to 10 C above seasonal norms on Tuesday.

“The ridge associated with the warm temperatures will shift inland resulting in slightly cooler temperatures on Wednesday. The ridge will rebuild from Thursday onward and herald more dry and hot conditions through the weekend,” Environment Canada wrote in a statement.
