The chair of the Kamloops-Thompson Board of Education is stepping down.
Kathleen Karpuk has been the board chair since November 2018 and will leave her role on July 27.
“I have accepted a full-time position with the Ministry of Forests Wildfire Branch,” Karpuk says in a media release.
“I have learned a great deal during my term as chair, but as I take on this new position I will have less time to carry out the extra duties required by the board chair.”
Karpuk has been a trustee with the board since 2008 after several re-elections. She will continue in that role.
An election for the vacant board chair position will be held at a board of education meeting on July 27.
