KAMLOOPS - The Sagebrush and Pavilion theatres in Kamloops will be receiving $188,000 worth of infrastructure upgrades from the federal government.

The funding announcement was made by the Minister of Transport Marc Garneau in Kamloops today, May 15, according to a media release.

The upgrades for the Sagebrush Theatre include new emergency exit doors, carpeting and a rigging system, and the Pavilion theatre will receive new lighting fixtures and flooring.

“Western Canada Theatre plays an invaluable leadership role in the Thompson Valley,” Garneau says in the release. "Thanks to this funding, it can continue to offer high-quality artistic presentations in modernized venues that will benefit local and touring productions, as well as audiences in the Kamloops region."

Both theatres are operated by Western Canada Theatre and are the only two fully equipped professional theatres in Kamloops.
