Kamloops theatre's private screenings put back on hold

Until provincial health orders on events are changed, the Kamloops Film Society will no longer be offering private screenings.

Private screenings are being reeled back from the Kamloops Film Society after a brief restart for socially distanced moviegoers.

After Interior Health approved private showings for those in the same household in February, the province reiterated that any moviegoing activities, even privately, are restricted, the Kamloops Film Society said.

Now they are unfortunately forced to cancel their private screenings until provincial health orders change.

"We are disappointed to say the least, but all we can do is hope that our communities stay safe and healthy so we can open up again soon," the film society statement said.

After they were ordered to close by provincial health authorities in November, the film society received permission from Interior Health in February to restart their private bookings.

Unfortunately for the theatre, provincial health orders say that any movie watching at a theatre is considered an event, the theatre said in their statement.

The film society says that anyone who currently has a private booking scheduled will be contacted by staff.
