KAMLOOPS – Kamloops kicks off the scariest day of the year with two weekends worth of Halloween parties and events. There something for everyone, from family friendly events for kids and parents, to costume parties at participating pubs across town.
Because Halloween would not be complete without pumpkins
Nuleaf Produce Market has two pumpkin themed Halloween events. On Monday, Oct. 26 guess the weight of the market’s pumpkin and win a $100 gift card and the pumpkin. Then on Halloween day, the market throws its annual pumpkin carving contest with a chance to win another $100 gift card.
Tranquille Agra Farms will have a u-pick pumpkin patch open for the whole month of October.
…and a Corn-Maze
The Tranquille Farm Fresh Corn-Maze is open every weekend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include a special Halloween evening event. Come to the maze in costume from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets range from $30 for families to $8 for kids under 11.
Sunset Valley Farm is hosting Nights of Fright, a haunted corn-maze from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25, from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Navigate your way through the maze while trying to avoid a chainsaw wielding maniac and creatures of pure evil. Tickets are $10, cash only.
Kamloops Museum Halloween fun
The Kamloops Museum has planned, not one, not two, but three Halloween themed events. Things kick off with the family friendly Victorian Halloween Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Participants will tell spooky stories by candlelight, pass around a fortune ball and make Halloween masks.
If ghosts are grave yards are more your speed, the museum will be holding a tour of the Pleasant Street Cemetery on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Finally the museum will pair with Chimera Theatre to host an adult, Halloween themed escape-room scenario. Described as part puzzle and part scavenger hunt, participants need to solve the mystery before attacked by a mad man. Held at the old courthouse, it takes place Oct. 29 to Oct. 31 with two timeslots per night.
BC Wildlife Park Boo at the Zoo
This family friendly Halloween themed event happens Oct. 23, 24, 25 and 30 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event includes Uncle Chris the Clown, a laser light show, treat stations, a Skeleton in the Closet story time, a haunted enchanted forest and corn-maze, costume contest and more.
The Villain’s Ball
Called the maddest tea party you’ve ever seen, this family friendly affair features heroes and villains from your favorite fairy tales. Hosted by the Queen of Hearts Saturday, Oct. 24, this party includes craft making, Halloween inspired games, dancing and if you solve the Red Queen's Riddles you have the chance to win prizes. Prices range from $35 to $15 and includes a light snack and Halloween treats.
Halloween Family Dance Party
The Western Canada Theatre presents its fourth annual Family Dance Party, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The day includes healthy snacks, crafts and games and free admission when you bring a non-perishable item for the Kamloops Food Bank.
Treat Street on the North Shore
The North Shore Business Association will host the third annual Treat Street, Saturday Oct. 31. Kids are invited to trick-or-treat between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at North Shore businesses. The suggested route starts in the 100-block of Tranquille Road and finishes all the way at the Brock Shopping Centre.
Candy Planet at Gateway City Church
This free family event takes place Halloween day and features an indoor inflatable obstacle course, maze, games and, of course, candy.
Trick or Treat Extravaganza at Aberdeen Mall
Trick or Treaters get free candy between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Oct. 31 when they bring one non-perishable food item for the Kamloops Food Bank
The Zombie Walk
The 10th annual Zombie Walk takes place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Halloween Day through the streets of Downtown Kamloops. All walkers are invited to meet up after for libations at Red Collar Brewing Company.
The Ghost Train
The Kamloops Heritage Railway presents Ghost Train; think haunted house on rails. New from last year, a kid friendly Saturday afternoon ride. Taking place Oct. 23, 24, 29, 30, and 31, tickets range from $15 to $29.
Haunted House
Sakred Skin in bringing two nights of haunted houses, Oct. 30 and 31. Between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday is the kid friendly version, but between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday the house is adult only and guaranteed to terrify. Admission is free with a non-perishable donation to the Kamloops Food Bank.
The Halloween Parties for big kids only
Kamloops PRIDE presents Trick or Treat, Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Legion on 425 Lansdowne, tickets are $15 at the door.
Zack’s Coffees, Teas and Gifts will host Halloween Tribute Night on Saturday, Oct. 31 starting at 8 p.m. The all ages event features an assortment of live bands for only $5.
Bailey’s Pub presents the Monster Mash, Saturday, Oct. 31 starting at 8 p.m. A $5 cover, there will be a live DJ, drink and shot specials and $200 prize for the guy and girl with the best costume.
Pogue Mahone Irish Alehouse promises the Halloween costume party of the year, the theme being Music Idols of the 80s and 90s. The night includes live music, drink specials and "prizes, prizes, prizes." Tickets are $15 through Kamloopslive.ca or $20 at the door.
The Dirty Jersey presents Devon Coyote and band, Oct. 31 starting at 8 p.m. The event includes door prizes and a costume contest. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
Hotel 540 will host Rockin’ Halloween Party, a charity event supporting the Royal Inland Hospital. Starting a 7:30 p.m., live music will be provided by the band Angus. Tickets are $25.
Cactus Jack’s will be giving away $500 in cash and prizes for the best guys and girls costume during their Halloween party, Saturday, Oct. 31. DJs Virtue and D-Funkt will be providing the beats. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $10.
The Shark Club presents the Halloween Howler taking place Oct. 31 from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. There will be $500 in cash and prizes for the best costumes. The event includes DJs Erik Boog and MARE. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $15 at the door.
McCracken Station Pub brings you Scaryoke, Saturday Oct. 31. The event includes drink specials, prizes for best costume and no cover charge all night.
Terra’s Restaurant gives you Friends of Frankenstein Wine Dinner. Skip the trick or treating and enjoy a five course meal; costumes encouraged. It takes place Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. and tickets are $79.
The Office Pub presents live music and dancing on Halloween night, starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10.
The Kamloops Rugby Club is partnering with the Rayleigh Pub on Halloween night, starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 and the evening includes prizes for best costumes.
Duffy’s Pub invites you to its Halloween Bash, Oct. 31 starting at 8 p.m. The event includes DJ Pul5e, drink specials and free cover.
